Holiday Stamps 2014

I know, I know... it was just Halloween.  That said, the holidays will be here before you know it and I love one of new offerings from the USPS this year called "Winter Fun."  It contains four designs (three of which I like - there is something about the tiny heads on the skaters that looks weird to me):

There are some other new stamp releases for the holidays including a Rudolph series (pictured below), an international Silver Bells Wreath, and the Christmas Magi.  Is anyone thinking about this yet or am I too early? I know at least two of you are because we had an e-mail exchange today on this very subject (you know who you are).

Holiday Stamps

Is it too early to be thinking about Christmas?  The U.S. Postal Service released its first ever holiday stamp (at the public's request) in 1962 and due to the popularity of the first stamp, they became a yearly tradition.  Thirty years later, you could not only get a traditional holiday image (mistletoe, decorated trees, etc.) but also stamps for Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Eid, and more religious Christmas stamps.  This year, the new arrivals are a poinsettia, the gingerbread houses, an evergreen wreath and the snowflakes.  Unfortunately, the wreath is for international mail (great if you send a lot of cards abroad) and the snowflakes are for bulk mail, but the poinsettias and gingerbread houses are festive options.  It's never to early to plan for sending holiday cards!

Vintage Seed Packet Stamps

Perhaps it is the fact that we planted an apricot tree in our yard over the weekend (just in time to beat the snow we are getting today), but these new stamps from the U.S. Postal Service totally fit my "It is spring and time to plant things in the garden" mentality.  The stamp art features photographs of antique seed packets printed between 1910 and 1920.

Holiday Postage

My inbox has been flooded this week with paper companies advertising holiday cards, and the U.S. Postal Service has released its new holiday stamps, too.  Holiday cards are a highlight of the holiday season for me and we hang all of our cards.  The U.S.P.S. has two new holiday stamps this year that are pictured below (view all of the holiday stamps here).  Maybe if we order stamps now, our cards will miraculously get mailed ontime?

Disney•Pixar Stamps

Who doesn't want to receive a letter in the mail with a Nemo stamp affixed to the front? The USPS has released the latest stamps featuring Disney•Pixar characters from A Bug's Life, the Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Toy Story 2 and Monsters, Inc. The stamps are already available for purchase here and you can read more about their creation here.
